Amtrak offers three different types of tickets for most rides. These are called “Saver,” “Value,” and “Flexible.” Saver tickets are the cheapest type of ticket, but are the least flexible. With a Saver ticket, you can save 50% or more. But you can’t get a refund, and you may have to pay a cancellation or change fee if you need to modify your reservation.
Value tickets are more expensive than Saver tickets. But if you get a Value ticket, you can get a partial refund, and there is no fee for changing your booking. Flexible tickets are the most expensive type of ticket. However, you can get a 100% refund with a Flexible ticket, and there are never any cancellation or change fees.
As a member of the Amtrak Guest Rewards program, you can earn points on every booking, and redeem them for future rewards. You’ll earn two points per $1 you spend, as well as 25% extra points for Business Class trips, and 50% extra points for Acela First Class trips.
